All right so I needed more air flow in the wood shop. I have one of those orange shop fans but wanted to keep it out of the way. I initially had it hanging from the ceiling, but that was too much of a pain in the ass to use.
So I cut a frame out off some plywood, and drilled holes in it that matched up with the grate mounting holes.
Hung it in place with some heavy duty hinges.
Used bolts instead of the sheet metal screws that initially held the grate on. Now it's firmly in place.
Added a stop as when the fan is on it blows all the way out. This way I can set it where I need. Probably only about two or three off those settings will be used, but overkill is fun.
Folded back out of the way. Only thing left to do is put an outlet up above so the cord is out of the way.
(sorry for the small photos, still figuring out wordpress from the phone.)
