Pseudo-crushes and quasi-crushes are just not good enough.

Crape Get +1

NoftopiaBasham_Crape-1 All right, so it was neither a Wichita or a Fantasy, but what is it you say? Basham's Party Pink! Fooooooo real. Basham_Crape-3 I went to the local nursery, Round Rock Gardens, to pick up a Crape Myrtle for setting in the middle of my deck. They didn't have the Fantasy or Wichita on hand, but what they did have was this variety called a Basham's Party Pink. They have one growing there at the nursery that is a good 25-30 feet tall and has blooms of a light pink/lavender color. It was quite nice and I figure a tree that's grown that tall just a mile down the road is a pretty good indicator of what it can do in my back yard. Pics in the gallery, I'll add them here when I'm done with some more coding changes.

I think you made a great choice!  I'm so glad you didn't get a darker pink one 'cause I see them a lot in Austin, and I hate 'em, but I really like the light pink/lavender ones that I see!  The Crape Myrtles bloom so well around here --I can't believe anything can bloom well in this hot-like-hell weather hehe!  When I lived in Japan, the Cherry trees only blossomed and looked good for a month or two, and that was during Spring weather there, so I don't think they would do well here at all.  Anyway, good choice, good choice!  : )
