iPd and the boost gauge pod of annoyance

12804Over the years I've had plenty of good dealings with iPd, for various Volvo parts. That all changed when I decided to order the boost gauge pod for Roxanne. I was excited to have it in as I've been doing various performance updates, so having a boost gauge, to make sure everything is running all proper seemed like a good move.

Time to get a baseline on her. Taking it to the shop wednesday to get in a couple dyno pulls. I'll post the results as soon as I have em. The stock rating is 247 horsepower and 243 torque. Now the dyno pull is in as well. I got pretty much exactly what I was figuring on. Even with a pull during 102 degree weather.

Lubricated

All right 145,000 miles down and time for a good oil change for Roxanne. I decided to fill her up with some Amsoil 5w30, though it was tough to track down enough quarts to (Thanks for nothing CarQuest). Just a side note, screw corporations that buy up local businesses and turn them to crap, and screw the people selling their local businesses to corporations.

Keep up with Maintenance!

Well, it could have turned out a whole lot worse. Roxanne started running all sorts of crappy as I was driving a couple days ago. I had her towed down to Vol-Tech for further investigation.

Cause I need my thumps

box-0030I'm not looking to throw down with anyone that goes by and rattles peoples windows (like some of the lovely hoodlums around here,) but I would like Roxie to have a little more bass. As the factory subwoofer option is still going for about $800 or so, I decided to just build one myself. This will be a little write up about the building of the box and installing of the subwoofer in the back of my V70 wagon. I'm a fan of form and function, so I'm pretty pleased with the final results. Take a peek and feel free to comment.
(I'm a jack of all trades, but as it goes master of none. with that said I don't claim to be an expert system installer or subwoofer box builder or anything of that nature. These are in fact the first two boxes I've built, so it's just a noobs foray into this field)

Messing with Trannies

It's just what I do, you know, on my weekends and such.

Forever Black. Product Review.

2008.10.05 Roxanne-0010

As the trim on Roxanne is more than showing it's age, I figured I might as well take care of it. Many cars using this type of plastic trim, especially the Volvos seem quite prone to UV exposure. It also doesn't help when plastic parts like this get waxed.
